CRO were called to assist a walker who had reported himself stranded in high winds on Whernside. Further investigation by CRO team leaders and use of a computer based “phone find” tool placed the walker on Great Whernside, near Kettlewell and not on the “3-peaks” Whernside within CRO’s operational area. INCIDENT 54/2021 – JULY 31st SAT. 13.03 – APPROACHING SUMMIT OF WHERNSIDE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A Three Peaks walker (m) was reported to have dislocated a knee high up on Whernside.  As members were assembling near the Blea Moor aqueduct, the air ambulance was able to land close to the casualty and effect his rescue with assistance only from other walkers already on site.  Team members stood down.
