A distressed walker with medical problems was encountered by other people as they reached the summit of Whernside. Thanks to the support of several walkers, she reached the top of the steep descent path. CRO members then took over the support for the slow, safe walk down to a team Land Rover. North Yorkshire Police asked the team to assist with a Three Peaks walker (m,63) suffering from exhaustion on the descent of Whernside. Team members attended and located the walker on the summit ridge, considerably higher up the fell than the initial information had suggested. The Team were alerted by North Yorkshire Police, requesting assistance with a walker (F, 54) who had sustained an ankle injury whilst descending the summit ridge from Whernside. The walker was unable to bear weight on the injured leg, and could not continue walking.
