INCIDENT 53/2019 – July 6th. Sat. 04.59hrs – Pen y ghent, North Yorkshire – Mountain Incident

A Three Peaks walker (m, 60) lost his footing on the steep, rocky path to the summit of Pen y ghent, falling about two metres and landing on his head, shoulder and arm. North Yorkshire Police contacted CRO regarding a report of a Three Peaks walker who was ahead of someone else, but had not arrived at his car when the second walker arrived there. Seven  minutes later, a further message was received from NYP ‘Re walker on Yorkshire 3 Peaks – pls cancel – have located him in Airedale Hospital’. INCIDENT 20/2019 – Apr. 19th. Fri. 17.56hrs – Whernside Summit, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

The team were called by North Yorkshire Police to a 3 peaks walker with severe recurring cramp, whose companions were unable to get walking again. A team with a stretcher were sent to the casualties location at the summit, but were able to get the casualty walking, and with support he was able to walk down to Bruntscar. The team were contacted about concerns for a walker doing the 3 peaks who was 2 hours overdue, having not returned home at the expected time, and had also not responded to messages to his phone.
