Three Three Peaks walkers (all m) took the wrong route off the Ingleborough summit plateau and descended to Gaping Gill in thick cloud and ‘horizontal rain’, rather than the path to Horton in Ribblesdale. NYP passed on what information they could glean from a broken call from a party of three walkers who said they were so cold that they feared the onset of hypothermia on the descent from the hill they were on. A walker (f, 41) fell on limestone pavement, trapping her foot so that she was unable to move and she soon became very cold.
