CRO controllers were called by North Yorkshire Police to attend an incident involving a fallen climber at Oxenber scar, unfortunately he had sustained serious injuries requiring a swift response and evacuation. The climber was treated at the scene by our team doctor and RRMT’s and a YAS paramedic. INCIDENT 03/2026. JANUARY 4th SUN. 13.40 hrs PATH BETWEEN HALE LANE AND OXENBER WOOD, AUSTWICK, NORTH YORKSHIRE.
A walker (f, 72) slipped on the field path below Oxenber Wood, near Wood House, Austwick, sustaining a very painful ankle injury. After assessment, pain relief and splinting of her leg, she was lifted onto the back seats of CRO 4 (Honda Pioneer) and driven to Feizor to meet the YAS road ambulance. A climber (m, 39) fell a reported 8 metres from a climb at the southern end of Giggleswick Scar (South). He landed awkwardly on a ledge, was unable to move and was complaining of mid-back and severe ankle pain. INCIDENT 86/2025. OCTOBER 11th SAT. 15.39 hrs Nr JANET’S FOSS, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE.
A walker (f, 24) slipped and injured an ankle not far from Janet’s Foss on the path towards Malham village. When she had been assessed by the YAS paramedic, team members helped her to the road ambulance which took her to Settle Railway Station for the first train home. An undeserved end to a day involving at least two trains and a bus-ride. Volunteer hours: 17
