A climber (m, 75) walked up to the Giggleswick Scar (North) crag, but collapsed immediately on arrival. Despite the best efforts of his companions at CPR, then the protracted efforts of YAS paramedics, he could not be revived. With police formalities completed, team members stretchered the deceased down to an ambulance. FATAL Volunteer hours: 21

NYP called for assistance following the disappearance of a visitor (f, 44) believed to be at risk. As members waited at the RV point, the NPAS (Police) helicopter crew reported sighting the misper, sitting on a hill-side and apparently unharmed, about a kilometre from the point where she had last been seen. INCIDENT 38/2023 (same day) 13.17 WHITE SCAR CAVE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE. CAVE INCIDENT
A visitor (m, 60), with known medical conditions, was suspected of having a possible heart attack after climbing the steps into the Battlefield Chamber at the extremity of White Scar Cave. Team members, the two fire officers and a police officer attended and the patient was found to be conscious and breathing. A team doctor assessed him and agreed that he could be walked gently back to the cave entrance…

A visitor called the police, saying that his wife was feeling dizzy and sick on the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and needed mountain rescue. Unfortunately, the call dropped out and NYP could not re-establish contact, but the call’s source was calculated as possibly near Pecca Falls, Thornton in Lonsdale.
