INCIDENT 55/2024. AUGUST 4th SUNDAY 16:38 HRS. LUND FARM, BURTON IN LONSDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) asked the team to assist with a walker (m, 78) who had fallen and injured his lower back on the footpath near to the River Greta. Team members assisted the YAS crew to place him into a vacuum mattress full body splint then into a stretcher which was wheeled and carried across the fields to the nearby ambulance. INCIDENT 52/2024. JULY 28TH SUN 17.09 HRS. JANET’S FOSS, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Yorkshire Ambulance Service asked the team to assist with a walker (m, 89) who had fallen and injured his shoulder on the footpath near Janet’s Foss.  Team members attended ready for the expected stretcher carry, but some astute local knowledge allowed a team vehicle to drive right to the casualty’s location.  The casualty and the YAS ambulance crew were driven back to the ambulance in Malham. INCIDENT 51/2024. JULY 22nd MON 15.19 hrs. DEAN MOOR, MALHAM MOOR, NORTH YORKSHIRE

YAS asked for assistance when a cyclist was reported to have fallen from his bike, sustaining possible rib injuries, on the bridleway from Water Sinks to Langscar Gate, Malham Moor. Unfortunately the call had ’emergency roamed’* so the caller could not be contacted in any way to confirm details. INCIDENT 50/2024. JULY 8th MON 16.08 HRS. Nr LONG CHURN CAVES, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Having just emerged from Lower Long Churn Cave, a caver (m, 30) slipped on the stile, sustaining a lower leg injury. Unable to walk down to Selside, he phoned for help. After assessment by the YAS crew from Ingleton, the injury was splinted and the casualty assisted into CRO 4 (the Honda Pioneer) for the drive down to the road ambulance. Volunteer hours: 9
