A visitor (m, 69) was reported to have hit his head on a rock, near the waterfall at Gordale Scar. Members were called out, but then stood down when YAS advised that their Rapid Response paramedic had assessed the patient and was walking him gently back to the road ambulance. INCIDENT 35/2020 – Jul. 12th. Sun. 20.25hrs – New Close Knotts (Gordale), Malham – Mountain Incident

A visitor (m) was reported to be ‘fallen and injured at top of waterfall at Malham Tarn’. It was further reported that he had gone for a walk on his own and was missing for a couple of hours before family members found him. Incident 44/2018 – Jul. 14th Sat 09.54 Nr Grey Gill, Gordale, Malham, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

Almost as soon as the lamb-rescue group was committed to the 2 km off-road drive to the Gritstone Pot area of Ingleboroough, a member of an expedition group (f, 15) was reported to have a knee injury, above the path from Gordale Bridge towards the Malham Raikes road. On arrival, team members found that she was in no pain, but her knees had locked so that she could not walk…

Incident 19/2018 – Apr. 20th Fri. 16.02 Gordale Scar, Malham, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A walker (f, 42) slipped on wet rocks at the beck edge, between the two waterfalls in Gordale Scar, sustaining a painful shoulder injury. Having been given pain relief and with her shoulder immobilised, the patient was able to walk up to the top of the Scar with assistance and encouragement from team members. She was helped into the waiting air ambulance for the flight to hospital.       …
