A small group of horses galloped past but very close to four walkers on the path from Malham to Pikedaw, beyond Butterlands Barn. YAS asked for CRO’s assistance when a visitor (f, 73) fell ’10 minutes from Beezleys on the Ingleton Waterfalls trail’. Local members were put on stand-by, but when the duty controller phoned the paramedics, they were almost on scene and thought that CRO was probably not needed. A walker (f, 58) slipped on the limestone pavement at the top of Malham Cove, sustaining ankle and lower leg injuries. Her husband helped her to the grassy bank behind the limestone pavement, then called the Police. A walker (f, 62) slipped and fell on Whernside, sustaining a nasty gash to the forehead. The call dropped out before NYP could establish an accurate location, so that, when there was no response to the CRO duty controller’s PhoneFind text, he was left with the dilemma of which route (or routes) team members should take to reach the casualty.
