YAS passed on a call for a walker (m, 58) who was reported to have ‘fallen off a 1m wall’, sustaining a suspected ankle fracture on the footpath between Cappleside and Hard Head Farm, Rathmell. A small group of horses galloped past but very close to four walkers on the path from Malham to Pikedaw, beyond Butterlands Barn. One horse came so close that one of the walkers (f, 63) was ‘bowled over’ and sustained a wrist injury on landing. ALERT only. OCT. 6th THU. 16.12 – Nr BEEZLEY FALLS, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ALERT No 5 of 2022

YAS asked for CRO’s assistance when a visitor (f, 73) fell ’10 minutes from Beezleys on the Ingleton Waterfalls trail’. Local members were put on stand-by, but when the duty controller phoned the paramedics, they were almost on scene and thought that CRO was probably not needed. Members waited at home or at work until the ‘stand down’ was confirmed. Volunteer hours: 2  

INCIDENT 82/2022  OCT. 2nd SUN. 14.20 TOP OF MALHAM COVE, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A walker (f, 58) slipped on the limestone pavement at the top of Malham Cove, sustaining ankle and lower leg injuries. Her husband helped her to the grassy bank behind the limestone pavement, then called the Police. NYP called CRO, whose team members assessed the injuries, administered mild pain relief and splinted the injured leg before helping the patient into a casualty bag on a Titan stretcher.
