INCIDENT 67/2023 AUG 10th THURS 15.09 THORNTON FORCE, THORNTON-IN-LONSDALE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

Just as the Team were clearing from the previous sheep rescue incident, we were again called by North Yorkshire Police to assist a walker (F, 52) who had injured her ankle near Thornton Force, on the Ingleton Waterfalls Walk. Team members attended and administered treatment to stabilise the injury before a short stretcher carry back to Team vehicles nearby. INCIDENT 65/2023 AUG. 7th MON. 11.39 FIELD Nr SELSIDE, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – LOCAL INCIDENT

A local man (78) collapsed while walking in fields near Selside with members of his family.  Sadly, despite the prolonged efforts of paramedics from two road ambulances and an air ambulance, he could not be revived. INCIDENT 61/2023 JUL. 21st FRI. 10:39 SWAN BUTTRESS, GIGGLESWICK SCAR SOUTH, GIGGLESWICK, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A climber (m, 30) slipped and fell near the top of a climb, sustaining a serious injury to his right lower leg.  His belayer lowered him back to the ground and called for assistance.  Team members attended, assessed the casualty, splinted his leg, and then strapped him onto a Bell stretcher (a heavy-duty stretcher with skids underneath).  The casualty was then lowered down the high-angle slope to the road below…

INCIDENT 58/2023 JUL. 9th SUN. 14.03 THORNTON FORCE, THORNTON IN LONSDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A visitor (m, 37) slipped, while ‘taking a selfie’ on the ledge which runs behind the waterfall at Thornton Force on the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail. He fell and slithered the 3+ metres down onto rocks, below and was held there, temporarily by the force of the waterfall. Aided by a friend, he was able to stand and escape the water.
