Conflicting reports resulted in YAS paramedics in a Rapid Response Vehicle, a road ambulance and two YAA helicopters plus NYP and 17 CRO team members with two CRO Land Rovers converging on the Snow Falls area of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail. INCIDENT 63/2021 – AUGUST 18th WED. 12.13 – Nr THORNTON FORCE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT
A visitor (f, 29) slipped while stepping from boulder to boulder just below Thornton Force, twisting her knee. After assessment by the team doctor (Sprain rather than dislocation or fracture.), her leg was splinted by YAS paramedics. Accompanied by team members, she was helped to walk about 200m to a team Land Rover for the drive to the road ambulance. Volunteer hours: 14
INCIDENT 58/2021 – AUGUST 3rd TUE. 14.44 – BOTTOM QUARRY, STORRS COMMON, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT
A climber (f, 32) fell from one of the routes on the lower quarry face at Storrs Common, sustaining lower leg injuries. A YAS crew was on scene and an air ambulance was en route when the CRO Duty Controller was called. Paramedics having treated and ‘packaged’ the casualty, team members transported her to the road ambulance on a CRO wheeled stretcher. Volunteer hours: 15
INCIDENT 05/2021 – Mar. 23rd Tue. 15.32 – Mealbank Quarry, Ingleton, North Yorkshire. – Animal Incident
A pregnant ewe had been seen on a ledge on the former quarry at Mealbank, but was left for a day or two to find its own way off, as it became hungry. When this did not happen, the farmer asked for CRO’s assistance.
