INCIDENT 70/2021 – SEPTEMBER 6th MON. 16.48 – THREE PEAKS WALK, HORTON, CLAPHAM, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A Three Peaks walker (m, 28) was reported overdue/missing, seven hours after last being seen on Pen y ghent. He had been walking too slowly for his companion who had continued on ahead without him, trying to catch up with the fastest two out of their original group of four. ALERT Only – Jun 27th Sun. 13.42 – Ledge over Gaping Gill main shaft, Clapham, North Yorkshire – Alert No. 6 of 2021

A CRO member, out leading a school group (his ‘day-job’), saw a sheep apparently stranded on the ledge at the top of the main shaft into the Gaping Gill main chamber. He passed the information on, but thought the sheep might ‘self-rescue’ if left. The following morning, the Duty Controller diverted his morning run to check the site, but the sheep was no longer there. Local farmers were gathering there…

INCIDENT 38/2021 – JUNE 23rd WED. – GAPING GILL, CLAPHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – CAVE INCIDENT

NYP asked CRO to investigate when two people (m, m) were reported overdue from a trip into Gaping Gill. Their vehicle was found in Clapham, they were not found to be on the walk down, but GG was found to be rigged. Voice contact was established and the full team was called out. INCIDENT 26/2021 – MAY 30TH SUN. 21.42 – INGLEBOROUGH, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

As team members were leaving Pen y ghent, NYP advised that two walkers (f, f) on the Three Peaks Walk had reported themselves lost but uninjured on Ingleborough and with daylight fading.
