INCIDENT 68/2023 AUG 14TH MONDAY 12.36. GAPING GILL, INGLEBOROUGH, CLAPHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

The Duty Controller was contacted directly by a colleague from Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) who was at the Craven Pothole Club ‘winch meet’ at Gaping Gill. A walker (M, 60) had arrived at the site cold and wet, and had subsequently felt faint. Personnel at the site had given him shelter in a tent, and treated him for mild hypothermia with rewarming and food. The Team arranged for the casualty and our colleagues to be met near Trowgill, once the casualty had recovered sufficiently to walk down with assistance. He was transferred to a Team vehicle and driven  back with his friends to his own vehicle in Clapham where he was able to return home.
