INCIDENT 34/2021 – JUNE 18th FRI. 13.52 – WHERNSIDE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT
A Three Peaks walker (f, 38) fell on the path to the summit of Whernside at the northern end of the ridge, sustaining a lower leg injury. The leg would not bear weight, so a member of a neighbouring MRT provided a group shelter then called for help. A walker (f, 76) was reported to have collapsed while walking along the side of the Ribble, across from Hornby Laithe bunkhouse, Stainforth. Members scouting the exact location arrived on scene just before a YAS paramedic in his Rapid Response Vehicle. INCIDENT 32/2021 – JUNE 15th TUE. 15.23 – GREAT DOUK / SUNSET HOLE AREA, CHAPEL-LE-DALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – CAVE INCIDENT
Three cavers were reported overdue in one (?) of the caves in the Great Douk / Sunset Hole area, having given a ‘call-out time’ of 15.00. As members were en route across the fell, it was discovered that they had emerged safely before 13.00, but failed to communicate that fact to their safety contact. The team stood down.
