The team were called to a walker (m,78) suffering a lower leg injury, and unable to make progress on Whernside. Contact with the caller established that the casualty had health conditions which were impacting on his ability to continue walking, and had become very cold. Incident 24/2017 – Apr. 23rd Sun. 10.34 – Whernside, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

CRO were called out by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to locate and provide assistance to a 79 year old walker who was in difficulty near to the summit of Whernside. CRO members located and attended to the casualty, who had apparently fallen as a result of a trip and was unable to continue his walk. North Yorkshire Police received a call to a walker (m) collapsed but conscious, descending from Whernside ‘towards Ingleton’. The duty controller was able to re-contact the caller and established that they were in fact descending towards Bruntscar.
