The Team were asked by North Yorkshire Police to assist with rescuing two women whose car had become stuck fast in a snow drift on the minor road across Scotsthrop Moor, above Settle. Neither the police, nor any recovery organisation were able to help. As the women were cold,  two members attended in a team vehicle, using snow chains due to the conditions. The team were alerted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), who were requesting assistance with a visitor (F 49) who had injured herself whilst at Scaleber Force waterfall, near Settle. Fortunately, whilst we were mobilising, the YAS crew had been able to assist the injured party to their nearby vehicle and did not need further assistance from us. The team were stood down. INCIDENT 24/2024. APR 24TH WEDS 15.47. GIGGLESWICK SCAR NORTH, SETTLE, NORTH YORKSHIRE

The team were alerted by North Yorkshire Police to a report of a climber having fallen at Giggleswick Scar North, near Settle. The climber (M, 52) had reportedly fallen some 10m and sustained a head injury. Members were rapidly deployed to the scene to assess the situation. A visitor (f, 12) was reported to have ‘climbed a high rock’, had frozen and was scared. Her mother calmed her and talked her down to safety. Apart from phone calls, no action required of CRO. Volunteer hours: 1/2
