INCIDENT 16/2026. APRIL 3rd FRIDAY 14.26hrs. PENNINE BRIDLEWAY, SETTLE, NORTH YORKSHIRE

The team were asked by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with a walker (F, 58) who had slipped on steep grass on the Pennine Bridleway between Settle and Langcliffe. She had sustained a painful ankle injury and was unable to walk. A team member who lives nearby was first on scene to assist and other members were soon in attendance with our ATV CRO4 and medical equipment. The casualty was splinted and transported off the hill in a team vehicle to her own car in Settle, from where she was going to go to hospital. YAS attended but ultimately were, thankfully, not needed. We wish the walker a speedy recovery.

Please note: even though well equipped and experienced, this party were getting chilled when we arrived despite being relatively close to a road. The current weather can catch you out quickly and spare clothing and warm drinks are a good idea in case you have to sit and wait anywhere. Be prepared.
