A female walker slipped and fell descending Pen-y-ghent sustaining a suspected fracture to her right ankle. She was carried by passers-by to within 500m of the road before being met by team members, who were called by North Yorkshire Police. A lone walker (m) was reported overdue by his partner, walking ‘in the Pen-y-ghent area’. As the duty controller was talking to the Police to establish further details, the walker contacted his partner by phone to say he was okay and about to return home. A 5 yr old ‘sprocker’ spaniel fell on rocks and was unable, or unwilling, to move his back legs. The owner requested assistance to get the dog off the hill. A small team responded, and together with a National Park Ranger, conveyed the dog down to the owners vehicle in Horton, from where the dog was taken for treatment at a local vet.
