Alert – Apr. 24th Tue. 17.08 Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Alert only

Members of a practice expedition group (3 m, 1 f; 16-18) reported themselves ‘lost at the summit of Ingleborough Hill’. Use of SARloc showed them to be on the path across Simon Fell Breast, which leads to Horton in Ribblesdale. They were persuaded to continue and were met, a few minutes later, by their supervisors, eventually reaching their camp-site, rather wet.         Volunteer hours: 1+.  

Incident 8/2018 – Mar. 9th Thu. 14.20 Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A walker (m, 69) slipped and fell, immediately after leaving the Ingleborough summit plateau on the path towards Crina Bottom and Ingleton.  His fall was witnessed by a mountain biker who phoned for help, then she was joined by a passing fell-runner, who used his own first aid kit to staunch the flow of blood from the deep scalp wound. Incident 5/2018 – Feb. 5th Mon. 15.49 Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

On the summit of Ingleborough, a paraglider fell about 3 metres when his parachute stalled whilst he was taking off. He suffered a suspected fracture to an ankle. Remarkably, and with the generous help of passing walkers, the injured person had the tenacity to shuffle and slide a considerable way down from the summit. Incident 91/2017 – Dec. 27th Wed. 15.10 Humphrey Bottom, Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A walker (m 38) slipped on ice and injured his right ankle whilst descending from Ingleborough summit. CRO were able to pinpoint the exact location of the incident by sending a text message, enabling the informant at the scene to share their mobile phone location with our computer based mapping system.
