INCIDENT 41/2021 – JUNE 26th SAT. 08.24 – PEN-Y-GHENT (LAST CLIMB TO SUMMIT), NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A Three Peaks walker (f, 34) slipped on the last climb (the second tier) of the ascent of Pen-y-ghent, falling about 3 metres and landing on her hip. Locations given were variable, but members headed for Dale Head and Churn Milk Hole and either walked all the way up or were ferried part-way up the hill in the Honda Pioneer. INCIDENT 27/2021 – MAY 31ST MON. 14.31 – GIGGLESWICK SCAR (SOUTH), GIGGLESWICK, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A climber (m, 27) is believed to have been descending around the side of the main climbing area on Giggleswick Scar (South) when he sustained a head injury, caused by a falling rock. His climbing partner called for help and administered what first aid she could on the steep, rocky, wooded hillside. INCIDENT 15/2021 – May 9th Sun. 14.21 – Pen y ghent, Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire. – Mountain Incident

A walker (f, 61) was reported to have taken a fall, breaking an ankle on the path down from Pen y ghent towards Hull Pot, near its junction with the ‘old Three Peaks route’.  As team members responded, YAS advised that an air ambulance had collected the patient and was flying her down to meet the road ambulance on Horton Playing Field. INCIDENT 11/2021 – Apr. 15th Thu. 14.47 – Whernside, Ingleton, North Yorkshire. – Mountain Incident

A paraglider pilot (m, 54) launched from the summit ridge of Whernside, but immediately landed heavily, 200m down-slope, injuring his right ankle. As the first CRO members scaled the hill, the North West Air Ambulance landed on the ridge. Paramedics scrambled down and packaged the patient before team members, assisted by passers-by, carried patient and team stretcher up to the aircraft.
