INCIDENT 36/2022 MAY 28th  SAT. 08.40 Nr GAPING GILL HOLE, CLAPHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A caver (f) attending the Spring winch meet at Gaping Gill was believed to be suffering from appendicitis and CRO was called. Members were despatched by Land Rover and Honda Pioneer, at the same time as the availability of an air ambulance was queried. No helicopter was available immediately and team members kept going forward. The patient and a companion were collected in the Pioneer, brought down to the road-head and transferred to the YAS road ambulance for their assessment.

Footnote: The following day, a message was received from a grateful patient,  saying that her appendix had been removed successfully.
