North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum shared a serious flood alert with all of the county’s SAR teams and held an on-line discussion to plan for any necessary action. Rainfall and water levels were monitored, but the risk appeared to be less than anticipated. The Silver-level alert was cancelled on Saturday. Volunteer hours:   4

INCIDENT 85/2023 OCT 22nd SUN. 14.58 WINSKILL STONES, LANGCLIFFE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

Yorkshire Ambulance Service requested CRO’s assistance with a casualty (f, 38) who had reportedly injured her ankle and was unable to walk.  When the YAS paramedics and the first CRO members reached the casualty’s supposed location, the casualty was nowhere to be found.  Further inquiries determined that her party had managed to get her off the hill and transported her to hospital. INCIDENT 84/2023 OCT. 15th SUN. 11.43 PECCA BRIDGE, THORNTON IN LONSDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A visitor (m, 80) was reported to have collapsed near Pecca Bridge on the outward leg of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail. The team responded, as did the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. After assessment by the team’s doctor and being given sugary sweets, the casualty was stretchered up to a team Land Rover (The helicopter had been called away to a higher priority incident.). A well-intentioned walker expressed the concern of several visitors that an ‘elderly’ couple were struggling on the return leg of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and believed that one of the pair may have had a fall, already.
