Incident 37/2018 – Jun. 9th Sat 17.34 Catrigg, Stainforth, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A walker, who had strayed slightly off the footpath from Catrigg to Stainforth, slipped on a grassy bank and went over on his ankle – reportedly hearing a snap. He was treated for a possible fracture by Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics and CRO team members. A short, but tricky, stretcher carry enabled the injured person to be taken by a CRO vehicle to the roadhead. Volunteer hours: 24

Incident 91/2017 – Dec. 27th Wed. 15.10 Humphrey Bottom, Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A walker (m 38) slipped on ice and injured his right ankle whilst descending from Ingleborough summit. CRO were able to pinpoint the exact location of the incident by sending a text message, enabling the informant at the scene to share their mobile phone location with our computer based mapping system. Incident 90/2017 – Dec. 27th Wed. 11.26 Green Bank, Great Knoutberry Hill, Cumbria – Mountain Rescue

A walker (m 82) slipped and fell, on wet grass on a bridleway track, injuring his ankle. He was kept warm by his family who were able to bring blankets and a hot water bottle to his location. Mel Akeroyd of Saltaire Striders Running Club has supported our Ingleborough Challenge fundraising event for the last 5 years, since her sister was rescued by the team on Pen-y-ghent.
