INCIDENT 54/2021 – JULY 31st SAT. 13.03 – APPROACHING SUMMIT OF WHERNSIDE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A Three Peaks walker (m) was reported to have dislocated a knee high up on Whernside.  As members were assembling near the Blea Moor aqueduct, the air ambulance was able to land close to the casualty and effect his rescue with assistance only from other walkers already on site.  Team members stood down. A walker (f, 26) was reported to have ‘fallen and passed out’ on the ‘Settle Loop’ of the Pennine Bridleway, above Langcliffe. Two team members and the YAS ambulance crew were able to reach the casualty in CRO 4, the team’s Honda Pioneer. A walker keyed 999, telling North Yorkshire Police that two other walkers were calling for help, that he was on the Swine Tail and that he was heading towards the pair to investigate. The Duty Controller was unable to call the reporting party back*, so there was no further information. INCIDENT 51/2021 – JULY 19th MON. 14.51 – GATE COTE HILL, near RIBBLEHEAD, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A walker (f 64), enjoying a multi-day traverse of the Dales Way path, was stopped short when she slipped and heard her ankle crack. She reported that she did not need an ambulance, but could not weight bear and could not walk any further.
