A passer-by reported that a lamb was stranded on a ledge on Shout Scar, Kingsdale. The duty controller went to investigate, but couldn’t quite reach the lamb. While two other members were en route to assist,the duty controller found that if he changed position, he could just reach, so he grabbed the animal and returned it to its mother. Volunteer hours: 5
Alert – May 8th Tue. 16.13 Gaping Gill area, Clapham, North Yorkshire – Alert only
Two 13-year old students (f) were reported missing from a school group between Gaping Gill and Ingleborough Cave. However, just as the duty controller was telephoning North Yorkshire Police’s Force Control Room for more information, they were reported to have been found. Volunteer hours: Negligible.

You can now view our latest Annual Report on line here. Rescue 2018 gives details of our fundraising efforts, achievements and accounts as well as incidents attended throughout 2017. However, it’s a much better read ‘in the flesh’, so pick up a copy in the local area, where it’s available from pubs, shops and of course our base, The Depot, in Clapham.
Alert – Apr. 24th Tue. 17.08 Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Alert only
Members of a practice expedition group (3 m, 1 f; 16-18) reported themselves ‘lost at the summit of Ingleborough Hill’. Use of SARloc showed them to be on the path across Simon Fell Breast, which leads to Horton in Ribblesdale. They were persuaded to continue and were met, a few minutes later, by their supervisors, eventually reaching their camp-site, rather wet. Volunteer hours: 1+.
