A walker (f, 59) slipped on wet limestone, at the edge of Malham Beck, at the foot of the Cove, sustaining a suspected mid-shaft fracture of her left femur. YAS paramedics administered pain relief, then immobilised the limb and CRO members stretchered her to a waiting air ambulance. After de-contaminating the equipment, members stood down. Whilst incident number 3 was underway, the team was called to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) with an incident near to Malham. A walker (f 15) had slipped on a steep and muddy grass slope near to the top of Malham Cove. The young person had a possible fractured ankle and was treated by YAS paramedics. A 71yo, whilst assisting with a group of paragliding enthusiasts, slipped on rocks and sustained a deep laceration to his right shin, and was unable to walk. The team conveyed a Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedic to the casualties location, and then packaged the casualty for sledging by stretcher back to the road ambulance. From there he was conveyed to hospital for further treatment. Volunteer hours: 17
A walker (f,70) damaged her left knee after slipping whilst crossing wet limestone pavement on top of Malham Cove. Team members made the casualty comfortable whilst the Yorkshire Air Ambulance crew tended to her injury. She was then carried by stretcher to the air ambulance, for an airlift to hospital.
