An expeditioner (f,15) sustained an ankle injury while walking on a footpath over Dean Moor to the North East of Langscar Gate. Fortunately, two of the supervisory staff were members of other mountain rescue teams, so they splinted the injury, gave pain relief and sheltered the casualty in an expedition tent while calling CRO through North Yorkshire Police. North Yorkshire Police tasked the team to assist a walker (m, 46) descending from Pen y ghent who was unable to continue due to the combined effects of a pre-existing medical condition and exhaustion. With the walker’s location known and accessible by off-road vehicle, two members in a team Land Rover attended and transported the walker back to Horton in Ribblesdale.
