North Yorkshire Police were called by two walkers (m,27; f,27) who said they were lost in low cloud and rain after following a published walk on Ingleborough. As they were in a poor reception area, the usual telephone location systems were ineffective. ALERT only. FEB 16th FRI. 13.14 hrs. LIMESTONE OUTCROP ABOVE BANKS LANE, SETTLE, NORTH YORKSHIRE. ALERT No 1 OF 2024

A visitor (f, 12) was reported to have ‘climbed a high rock’, had frozen and was scared. Her mother calmed her and talked her down to safety. Apart from phone calls, no action required of CRO. Volunteer hours: 1/2

INCIDENT 3/2024 FEB. 4TH SUN. 17.58 HRS. PEN-Y-GHENT, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

North Yorkshire Police asked the team to assist two walkers (m,20s) who were stuck on the steep and rocky south shoulder of Pen-y-ghent.  Two other members of their party (m,f,20s) had gone up to assist them, but the group was unable to move due to high winds and poor visibility.  Team members, struggling to stay on their feet in the wind, located the group at the edge of the summit…
