Three walkers (m, 20, 20, 18) reported themselves lost in thick mist, heavy rain and strong wind while attempting to walk the Three Peaks. NYP were able to provide a grid reference which placed them on Simon Fell, to the NE of Ingleborough. Having called out team members to go to Chapel le dale, the Duty Controller was able, eventually, to speak to one of the ‘mispers’ and give directions…

INCIDENT 58/2021 – AUGUST 3rd TUE. 14.44 – BOTTOM QUARRY, STORRS COMMON, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT
A climber (f, 32) fell from one of the routes on the lower quarry face at Storrs Common, sustaining lower leg injuries. A YAS crew was on scene and an air ambulance was en route when the CRO Duty Controller was called. Paramedics having treated and ‘packaged’ the casualty, team members transported her to the road ambulance on a CRO wheeled stretcher. Volunteer hours: 15
INCIDENT 57/2021 – AUGUST 2nd MON. 17.54 – NEAR SNOW FALLS, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT
A visitor (f, 40) fell on the return leg of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, sustaining leg and head injuries. When the ambulance crew members were unable to find her, YAS called the CRO Duty Controller. Team members soon found the casualty, assessed her, provided pain relief and carried her by stretcher to the YAS road ambulance for the hand-over. Volunteer hours: 33
INCIDENT 56/2021 – AUGUST 1st SUN. 20.48 – FELL CLOSE, INGLEBOROUGH, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT
Two walkers (f, f), one with an ankle injury so she could only hobble, reported themselves ‘lost, in a field with sheep’, although they could see the railway and both roads to Ribblehead. A small group of team members was able to drive almost to the walkers in a team Land Rover, assist them to it, then return them to their car in Horton in Ribblesdale. Volunteer hours: t.b.c.
