A walker (m, 73) missed his footing on the edge of the limestone pavement at the top of Malham Cove, hitting his head on the rock and suffering lower leg and wrist abrasions. North Yorkshire Police called CRO following a report of someone threatening self-harm. Team members met in Malham car park and were organising into search groups when they learned that the police had found the ‘missing’ person, unharmed. The team stood down. Volunteer hours: 30
North Yorkshire Police put the team on stand-by when they were advised of a vulnerable man in difficulty, and possibly at serious risk, near Malham. Fortunately they resolved the situation satisfactorily without CRO’s involvement. Volunteer hours: 2
A walker slipped, fell over and injured her ankle whilst on the path between the top of Malham Cove and the Malham Rakes road. A CRO team member was able to unlock the field gate adjacent the road and drive a vehicle to the injured walkers location. She was taken down to Malham village for onwards travel, to hospital, in a private car. Volunteer hours: 7
