UWFRA forwarded a call from YAS for a walker (m, 30) who had sustained a knee injury while walking alongside Gordale Beck, downstream of Gordale Scar. INCIDENT 73/2021 – SEPTEMBER 15th WED. 15.32 – MALHAM COVE, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A visitor (m, 46) was reported to have fallen, a third of the way up the steps to the top of Malham Cove. He was unable to stand or put any weight on one leg because of a knee injury. After attention from YAS paramedics, he was helped on to a stretcher and CRO members, assisted by the paramedics, carried and sledged him down to the foot of the steps.…

INCIDENT 63/2021 – AUGUST 18th WED. 12.13 – Nr THORNTON FORCE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A visitor (f, 29) slipped while stepping from boulder to boulder just below Thornton Force, twisting her knee. After assessment by the team doctor (Sprain rather than dislocation or fracture.), her leg was splinted by YAS paramedics. Accompanied by team members, she was helped to walk about 200m to a team Land Rover for the drive to the road ambulance. Volunteer hours: 14  

INCIDENT 54/2021 – JULY 31st SAT. 13.03 – APPROACHING SUMMIT OF WHERNSIDE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A Three Peaks walker (m) was reported to have dislocated a knee high up on Whernside.  As members were assembling near the Blea Moor aqueduct, the air ambulance was able to land close to the casualty and effect his rescue with assistance only from other walkers already on site.  Team members stood down.
