INCIDENT 20/2022 – APRIL 3rd Sun 15.56 Simpson’s Pot, Thornton in Lonsdale, North Yorkshire – Cave Incident

A group of two adults and six teenagers was reported overdue on a ‘pull-through’ trip from Simpson’s Pot to Valley Entrance in West Kingsdale. As team members were responding, news was received that they had just emerged, ‘safe and well’, so all stood down. Volunteer hours: 10  

INCIDENT 42/2021 – JUNE 27th SUN. 12.53 – TURBARY ROAD, THORNTON IN LONSDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A trail-riding motorcyclist (m, 60) caught his wheel in a rut, causing him to collide with a wall, while riding along the Turbary Road in Kingsdale. CRO members responded when the rider was reported to have arm and back injuries. After assessment and pain relief from a YAS rapid-response paramedic and a team doctor, the casualty was helped into the team’s Honda Pioneer and driven down to the Kingsdale road…

INCIDENT 82/2020 – Dec. 3rd Thu. 16.18 – The Kingsdale road above Long Gill, Thornton in Lonsdale, North Yorkshire – Local Incident

A motorist called NYP when he and his partner became stuck in the first snow of the winter on the road to Deepdale/Dentdale, above Kingsdale Head. A small CRO team, in a Land Rover, soon recovered them and a supermarket delivery van. ‘CRO makes it!’ Volunteer Hours: 10

INCIDENT 13/2020 – Feb. 29th. Sat. 22.15hrs – Rowten Pot, Kingsdale – Cave Incident

During their re-ascent of the vertical Rowten Pot, the first of a party of 3 cavers became stuck at a point where their access rope was re-belayed to ring anchors embedded in the wall of the pothole. From the description given later, it seems that the caver had loaded all his weight on to a short lanyard, or cowstail, at the re-belay but then found himself unable to unload this…
