INCIDENT 64/2022 AUG. 13th SAT. 13.45 TURBARY ROAD, THORNTON IN LONSDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A lone trail-riding motorcyclist (m, 61) called the ambulance service, ‘complaining of shoulder, rib and collar-bone injuries’ after he came off his motorcycle on the Turbary Road, near Kail Pot, in Kingsdale. YAS called CRO, but possibly because the caller’s mobile phone had to roam to a different network to access 999, he could not be re-contacted to identify his position. A small reconnaissance party of members drove up from Masongill, in a Land Rover, and found the casualty sitting against a wall. Having immobilised his injury and administered the most appropriate pain relief (Advice was taken from a doctor, over the radio, as he was on medication for a pre-existing condition.), the team eased him gently into the Land Rover and drove carefully down to Masongill. Here, he was transferred to a waiting YAS road ambulance for further assessment and transportation to hospital.
