INCIDENT 72/2021 – SEPTEMBER 12th SUN. 15.17 – GORDALE SCAR, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A walker (f, 37) was reported to have fallen, with a head injury at ‘top of rocks 1/4 mile past Gordale Farm Gordale Scar, but YAS had been unable to obtain a better fix as the call kept dropping out. CRO could not return the call or acquire a location using the PhoneFind app, so team members headed to both top and bottom of Gordale Scar. However, before they arrived…

ALERT Only – Aug 23rd Mon. 16.39 – Gordale Scar, Malham, North Yorkshire – Alert No. 8 of 2021

A walker was reported to be having difficulty with his dog, which was described as ‘panicking’, near the top of the lower fall in Gordale Scar. When the duty controller phoned the reporting person, he was told that other walkers had helped the walker and dog up to safety. CRO’s assistance was not needed. Volunteer hours: 0.25  

INCIDENT 46/2021 – JULY 10th SAT. 14.51 – GORDALE SCAR, MALHAM NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT

A sheep was reported to be seriously injured at Gordale Scar, between the two waterfalls. Investigation by a team member found it to be one of this year’s lambs with a wound, but no obvious fractures. It was lowered gently down to other members, waiting at the foot of the waterfall climb, and taken to Gordale House for attention by the farmer. Volunteer hours 14.  

INCIDENT 06/2021 – Mar. 31st Wed. 15.57 – Gordale Scar, Malham, North Yorkshire. – Mountain Incident

A visitor (m, 69) was reported to have hit his head on a rock, near the waterfall at Gordale Scar. Members were called out, but then stood down when YAS advised that their Rapid Response paramedic had assessed the patient and was walking him gently back to the road ambulance. Volunteer hours: 10
