A caver reported that four companions (m, 59; f, 38; m, 26; m, 26) — two experienced and two less so — were unable to reach their ladder from the streamway up to the Roof Tunnel in Kingsdale Master Cave because of fast-flowing and rising water. Yorkshire Ambulance Service asked the team to assist with a walker (m, 89) who had fallen and injured his shoulder on the footpath near Janet’s Foss. Team members attended ready for the expected stretcher carry, but some astute local knowledge allowed a team vehicle to drive right to the casualty’s location.
