While taking his human for a Boxing Day walk on the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, Meatball, an Irish Wheaten Terrier, fell about 10m into the river just upstream of Pecca Bridge. INCIDENT 65/2021 – AUGUST 20th FRI. 10.06 – MEALBANK QUARRY, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT
A farmer had seen one of his sheep, apparently stranded on a ledge of Mealbank Quarry, on Sunday. He kept trying to tempt her back to safety by shaking a bag of sheep nuts, but eventually asked for CRO’s assistance. A small team set up an abseil and one member descended. His arrival on her ledge was sufficient motivation for the sheep to overcome any acrophobia and she scrambled safely…
INCIDENT 46/2021 – JULY 10th SAT. 14.51 – GORDALE SCAR, MALHAM NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT
A sheep was reported to be seriously injured at Gordale Scar, between the two waterfalls. Investigation by a team member found it to be one of this year’s lambs with a wound, but no obvious fractures. It was lowered gently down to other members, waiting at the foot of the waterfall climb, and taken to Gordale House for attention by the farmer. Volunteer hours 14.
INCIDENT 36/2021 – JUNE 20th SUN. – COWSKULL POT, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT
A farmer’s wife posted a request on Facebook to rescue a sheep from Cowskull Pot (near the Pennine Way, North of Horton). Team members returning from the previous incident diverted to Horton, but as they were approaching the site, the duty controller received a phone call advising that friends of the farmer would be able to abseil in to the hole and recover the animal.
