INCIDENT 06/2023 FEB 7TH SAT. 14.42 WESTERN END OF WARRENDALE KNOTTS, SETTLE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT

A heavily pregnant ewe was stranded on a ledge at the Western end of Warrendale Knotts, above Settle. The farmer left it, hoping it would self-rescue when it became hungry, but there seemed to be enough grazing to keep it going. After three days, he called CRO via North Yorkshire Police.

A small team attended and one member was lowered to the ledge. He distracted the sheep with feed nuts and was able to grab it before he and another member wrestled it into an animal rescue bag. Bag and team member were lowered gently to the foot of the crag and after a quick photo opportunity the farmer re-united the sheep with the rest of the flock.
