A man (59) was reported to be ‘at risk’, having been missing from home near Pickering since early evening on Monday. Scarborough and Ryedale MRT searched for him through Tuesday night, supported by Cleveland MRT and RAF Leeming MRT. INCIDENT 18/2021 – May 18th Tue. 11.14 – Pillar Holes, Newby Moss, Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Animal Incident
Two local people, out for a walk, spotted a sheep on a ledge in one of the Pillar Holes on Newby Moss and called the Duty Controller. A small team was able to drive all the way to the hole in CRO 4 (the team’s Honda Pioneer) and was then able to rescue the sheep before releasing it onto the fell, unharmed. (It’s in the bag!) INCIDENT 16/2021 – May 14th Fri. 20.21 – Near Winskill Stones, Langcliffe, North Yorkshire. – Mountain Incident
A visitor (m, 22) was scrambling along a ledge on Langcliffe Scar, near Winskill Stones, when he slipped and fell about 2m. He landed on both feet but injured both lower legs. Team members worked with YAS paramedics to treat the injuries and provide some measure of pain relief, before stretchering him about 150m to the waiting road ambulance. Volunteer hours: 26
INCIDENT 15/2021 – May 9th Sun. 14.21 – Pen y ghent, Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire. – Mountain Incident
A walker (f, 61) was reported to have taken a fall, breaking an ankle on the path down from Pen y ghent towards Hull Pot, near its junction with the ‘old Three Peaks route’. As team members responded, YAS advised that an air ambulance had collected the patient and was flying her down to meet the road ambulance on Horton Playing Field. The team stood down.
