Incident 70/2016 – Aug. 28th Sun. 01.18 – Lancaster Hole, Easegill, Cumbria – Cave Rescue.
Three cavers (m, 24; f, 24, m, 24) were reported overdue on a through trip from Top Sink to Lancaster Hole. They had made only slow progress and became lost, eventually deciding to await rescue near Stop Pot. Incident 69/2016 – Aug. 27th Sat. 15.55 – Malham Moor, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.
While the Ingleton incident was on-going, a walker (f, 59), on the Pennine Way south of Water Sinks, was reported to be collapsed, unconscious and having CPR administered. A small group of CRO members, who were with the team’s display trailer at Malham Show, arrived on scene very soon after the air ambulance and road ambulance. Sadly, resuscitation was unsuccessful.
