Incident 25/2016 – April 30th Sat. 13.15 – Whernside, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

Two competitors in the annual Three Peaks Race were in difficulty in bitterly cold conditions, at the summit of Whernside, one with apparent hypothermia, the other with a loss of sensation in the left leg. Incident 24/2016 – April 27th Wed. 11.30 – Malham Cove, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

The team were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to a walker (f,15) unconscious ‘1 mile north of Malham Cove’. The map reference passed to the team placed the casualty in the Irish Sea. Attempts to verify the location by other means were unsuccessful, so the team were asked to gather at the information centre at Malham to begin attempts to locate the casualty. Incident 23/2016 – Apr. 20th Wed. 13:10 – Thorney Rigg, Kingsdale, North Yorkshire – Animal Rescue.

It’s Wednesday, so it must be…Sheep Rescue! The team were called by a caver who had discovered a sheep stuck in a 4 foot deep rift near Turbary Road, which he was unable to free by himself. Incident 22/2016 – April 15th Fri. 14.07 – Malham Cove, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

A walker (f,70) damaged her left knee after slipping whilst crossing wet limestone pavement on top of Malham Cove. Team members made the casualty comfortable whilst the Yorkshire Air Ambulance crew tended to her injury. She was then carried by stretcher to the air ambulance, for an airlift to hospital.
