YAS called CRO when a climber (m, 54) fell a short distance (<2m?) onto rocks at Pot Scar, Feizor. Paramedics assessed him and gave pain relief for a shoulder injury. Team members gave him further pain relief, lifting him onto a vacuum mattress to immobilise him, as a precaution. A climber (f, 20) on Giggleswick Scar North fell approximately 4m, injuring her left ankle.  Team members attended and determined that the awkward climbers’ path back to the car park was unsuitable for a stretcher carry.  While one group assessed the injured climber, another group rigged the crag for lowering.  The climber’s ankle was immobilised with a vacuum splint and the climber was strapped into a Bell stretcher.  The stretcher…

INCIDENT 46/2023 JUN. 13th TUES 13:29 GIGGLESWICK SCAR NORTH, CAVE HOLE WOOD, LAWKLAND, NORTH YORKSHIRE. MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A climber (m, 75) walked up to the Giggleswick Scar (North) crag, but collapsed immediately on arrival.  Despite the best efforts of his companions at CPR, then the protracted efforts of YAS paramedics, he could not be revived.  With police formalities completed, team members stretchered the deceased down to an ambulance.  FATAL Volunteer hours:  21

INCIDENT 34/2022 MAY 18th WED. 15.07 IVY BUTTRESS, COMMON SCARS , LAWKLAND, NORTH YORKSHIRE (a.k.a. ‘GIGGLESWICK NORTH’) – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A climber (f, 54) fell from above her highest anchor, catching one foot on a ledge and sustaining a suspected ankle fracture on Ivy Buttress, Giggleswick North.
