INCIDENT 37/2021 – JUNE 20th SUN. – HUMPHREY BOTTOM, INGLEBOROUGH, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A Three Peaks walker (f, 43) slipped on the path ascending Ingleborough, above Sunset Pot, sustaining an ankle injury. A small team went up in CRO 4 (the Honda Pioneer), followed by one of the Land Rovers. Other members waited at the road-head in Chapel-le-Dale, but were not needed. INCIDENT 36/2021 – JUNE 20th SUN. – COWSKULL POT, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT

A farmer’s wife posted a request on Facebook to rescue a sheep from Cowskull Pot (near the Pennine Way, North of Horton). Team members returning from the previous incident diverted to Horton, but as they were approaching the site, the duty controller received a phone call advising that friends of the farmer would be able to abseil in to the hole and recover the animal. A sheep had appeared to be stranded on Mealbank Quarry for several days, but had been ignored in the belief that it would scramble off when it became hungry.
