Incident 12/2018 – Mar. 24th Sat. 13.41 Craven Way Old Road, Dent, Cumbria – Mountain Rescue

A walker (f, 16), on a Gold practice expedition, was taken ill on the Craven Way, to the South-East of Dent.  CRO and the Great North Air Ambulance responded. After the GNAA paramedic had assessed the patient, she was assisted to a team Land Rover, driven down to the road near Whernside Manor and transferred to a NWAS road ambulance for the journey to Westmorland General Hospital. Alert – Mar. 17th Sat. 20.15 Three Peaks area, North Yorkshire – Alert only

Four walkers (all m) were reported overdue on a Three Peaks walk, with a strong, bitterly cold wind blowing the snow. They had left the Station Inn, Ribblehead, at 07.00, being seen to head towards Whernside. Fortunately, they returned to the Inn (thirteen and a half hours later), just as the duty controller was phoning other pubs in the area. Volunteer time: 15 minutes  

Incident 11/2018 – Mar. 13th Tue. 12.14 Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, Ingleton, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

Yorkshire Ambulance Service asked for CRO’s assistance in reaching and rescuing a walker (m, 82), said to be collapsed and confused at Manor Bridge, on the western arm of the Waterfalls Trail. Team members and a paramedic ran  up from the main car park, finding him much further up the path, by the refreshment kiosk. Incident 10/2018 – Mar. 11th Sun. 04.25 Providence Pot, Kettlewell, North Yorkshire – Cave Rescue

Five cavers (f, 18 – m,25) were reported overdue in Providence Pot, at 21.29 on Saturday. The afternoon’s rain had melted snow, causing a rapid rise in stream levels. Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association attended and began a search of the Dow – Providence system, later asking CRO to ‘stand by’ and report availability of caving members.
