A caller was concerned when two walkers didn’t return at the scheduled time from attempting the 3 Yorkshire Peaks walk. The last contact with the walkers said they were ‘lost’ and at least 2 hours from their car. Initial attempts to locate the walkers using the ‘Phonefind’ facility did not work, so a team member set off for Horton in Ribblesdale (the usual starting point for the 3 Peaks walk)…

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) requested the team’s assistance to help a walker who had fallen whilst on the Waterfalls Trail. The injured person was eventually found near Pecca Falls, being assisted back to the car park by a companion, as YAS had told them an ambulance would not be available for 4 hours. Incident 41/2018 – Jun. 16th Sat 19.11 Heron Pot, Thornton in Lonsdale, North Yorkshire – Cave Rescue
Four cavers had left a note at their caving hostel, giving a call-out time of 19.00, before going to Heron Pot. Although not unduly concerned, the duty controller asked a colleague from Ingleton to investigate. At just after 20.00, he found them emerging from the cave, after they had lost track of time.
