INCIDENT 29/2019 – Apr. 27th. Sat. 15.43hrs – Whernside, North Yorkshire – Mountain Incident

Meanwhile back on Whernside as team members were about to leave from incident 27, 3 walkers (1 M, 2 x F) were reported as needing assistance down the steep final sections, where  a waiting vehicle transported them to the Hill Inn to arrange their own transport back to Horton.   3 volunteer hours

INCIDENT 28/2019 – Apr. 27th. Sat. 14.20hrs – Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Incident

A runner (M) competing in the 3 peaks fell race went missing after summiting Ingleborough in 11/12th place, concern was raised as he hadn’t arrived back in Horton within the expected time period and no sign of him on the descent. Meanwhile another runner (M 30) competing in the 3 peaks fell race fell and became unconscious on the first steep descent of the summit. He suffered facial injuries and regained consciousness fairly quickly. A CRO member who was on the summit checked him over and radioed for more assistance, the party heading up Whernside diverted to this more serious incident. A runner (M 52) was treated by CRO team members after falling and hearing a crack, he was transferred to the Hill Inn for forward transport. Whilst dealing with this incident, another runner (M 49) competing in the 3 peaks fell race, suffered a severe pain in his right knee on the summit and was unable to continue or walk.
