CRO were asked to help look for a 23 year old man who had called 999 and reported himself lost while walking near Malham Cove. He had informed the emergency operator that he was camping alone and could not find his way in the dark. In partnership with North Yorkshire Police and with Yorkshire Ambulance Service standing by, CRO team members searched all the known paths between Malham village, Malham Tarn and out to Gordale Scar. Local campsites were also checked. Despite our searching, shouting and listening no person, or tent, was found and the search was paused at about 03.30 hours. North Yorkshire Police contacted CRO at 06.15 hours to let us know that the lost person had called 999 again to let the police know he was safe.
