INCIDENT 12/2025. JAN 27th MON. 18.23hrs. PEN Y GHENT, NORTH YORKSHIRE

A walker, descending from Ingleborough to Horton in Ribblesdale, told NYP that he had seen triple flashes of light repeatedly for 15 minutes from the summit of Pen y ghent. Small groups of team members walked the paths to and over the summit in rain and high wind. Checks were also made for any aircraft or military activity in the area, but nothing was found. INCIDENT 43/2024. JUNE 11th TUES 0830. TOSSIDE, NORTH YORKSHIRE

The Team were asked by North Yorkshire Police (NYP) to assist with the search for a man (M, 53) who had been reported as missing since the previous evening from a holiday park near Tosside. Four cavers were reported overdue on a through trip from Lancaster Hole to Wretched Rabbit, beneath Casterton Fell, having set off at noon. Four members of the Red Rose C&PC, resident at Bull Pot Farm, went to Wretched Rabbit and began searching from that end of the visiting cavers’ anticipated route. CRO was asked by our colleagues in Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) to assist with a search for a missing person in and around the Nidd Gorge near Knaresborough.  A team from CRO attended and joined several other mountain rescue teams in searching areas of potential interest, but the missing person was not located.
