CRO was asked by our colleagues in Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) to assist with a search for a missing person in and around the Nidd Gorge near Knaresborough. A team from CRO attended and joined several other mountain rescue teams in searching areas of potential interest, but the missing person was not located. Volunteer hours: 47
A group of Three Peaks walkers called North Yorkshire Police when one of the group (m, 33) went missing between Whernside summit and Philpin Lane after experiencing some difficulties. A team vehicle checked Philpin Lane up to the Hill Inn but failed to locate the missing walker. CRO team members, already on scene for Incident 47, were redeployed to search paths and ridges that the missing walker could have taken. …
NYP called for assistance following the disappearance of a visitor (f, 44) believed to be at risk. As members waited at the RV point, the NPAS (Police) helicopter crew reported sighting the misper, sitting on a hill-side and apparently unharmed, about a kilometre from the point where she had last been seen. North Yorkshire Police called CRO following a report of someone threatening self-harm. Team members met in Malham car park and were organising into search groups when they learned that the police had found the ‘missing’ person, unharmed. The team stood down. Volunteer hours: 30
