INCIDENT 05/2022 – JANUARY 30th SUN. 20.30 PETERSON POT / PIPPIKIN POT, LECK, LANCASHIRE – CAVE INCIDENT

Three cavers (m,22; f,21; m,21) were reported overdue on a Peterson Pot to Pippikin Pot through trip (with Mistral Hole as an alternative early exit, if short of time). Having sent a PhoneFind text and confirmed that their car was at Bull Pot Farm, the Duty Controller organised a rapid surface search, in case the party had exited and was lost on the wild and wet way back to Bull Pot…

INCIDENT 32/2021 – JUNE 15th TUE. 15.23 – GREAT DOUK / SUNSET HOLE AREA, CHAPEL-LE-DALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – CAVE INCIDENT

Three cavers were reported overdue in one (?) of the caves in the Great Douk / Sunset Hole area, having given a ‘call-out time’ of 15.00. As members were en route across the fell, it was discovered that they had emerged safely before 13.00, but failed to communicate that fact to their safety contact. The team stood down. Alert only – Sep. 13th Fri. 18.49hrs – Jean Pot, Gaping Gill, North Yorkshire – Alert only

Three cavers were reported overdue from a trip down Jean Pot, Gaping Gill. When CRO’s Duty Controller contacted the informant to get more information, he was told that one of the cavers had just returned to Clapham village and had reported that he and his companions were all out of the cave and safe. The duty controller was contacted by a team caver staying at Bull Pot Farm to inform of an overdue group of cavers, doing a through trip from Wretched Rabbit to Lancaster Hole. Other cavers at Bull Pot had established that the party had made it to the base of the entrance pitch to Lancaster hole, but 2 novice cavers with the group were too exhausted to climb out without assistance.…
