YAS sent their rapid response vehicle and an air ambulance, then called CRO. They were joined, later, by a road ambulance. A walker (m, 38) slipped on the thawing ice surface of the field path between Hoffmann Kiln Lane and Langcliffe village, sustaining a lower leg fracture. On receiving the 999 call, YAS sent a road ambulance, whose crew ventured to within 100m of the casualty, then asked for CRO’s assistance in evacuating him. Team members have been ‘dot-watching’ over the weekend, following the progress of CRO colleagues entered in the Montane MRT Winter Spine Challenger event for members of mountain rescue teams. The event – along the southern part of the Pennine Way from Edale to Hawes – is 108 miles and would take most walkers about a week.
