INCIDENT 03/2023 JAN 22nd  SUN. 14.05 DESCENT PATH FROM WHERNSIDE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE –  MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A walker (f, 37) tripped and fell, head first, on the rocky first section of the path from the summit ridge of Whernside towards Bruntscar. YAS sent their rapid response vehicle and an air ambulance, then called CRO. They were joined, later, by a road ambulance. The air ambulance being first on scene, the pilot flew up towards the cloud base and deposited his paramedics about 100m from the casualty.…

INCIDENT 02/2023 JAN 22nd  SUN. 10.24 FIELD PATH BETWEEN HOFFMANN KILN LANE AND VILLAGE, LANGCLIFFE, NORTH YORKSHIRE –  MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A walker (m, 38) slipped on the thawing ice surface of the field path between Hoffmann Kiln Lane and Langcliffe village, sustaining a lower leg fracture. On receiving the 999 call, YAS sent a road ambulance, whose crew ventured to within 100m of the casualty, then asked for CRO’s assistance in evacuating him. CRO MEMBERS WIN THE 2023 MONTANE MRT WINTER SPINE CHALLENGER

Team members have been ‘dot-watching’ over the weekend, following the progress of CRO colleagues entered in the Montane MRT Winter Spine Challenger event for members of mountain rescue teams. The event – along the southern part of the Pennine Way from Edale to Hawes – is 108 miles and would take most walkers about a week.
